On March 17^th, SELC successfully held the event "Face-to-Face with the President of Weingarten University of Education in Germany". Professor Karin Schweizer, the president of Weingarten University of Education in Germany, Professor Tim Kaiser, the director of the International Office, and Professor Wolfgang Muller were invited in the dialogue. The former Consul General of the Republic of Chile in Shanghai Claudio Rojas Rachel hosted. More than 30 teachers and students attended.

3月17日，我院“与德国魏因加藤教育大学校长面对面”活动顺利举办。德国魏因加藤教育大学校长Karin Schweizer教授，国际处处长Tim Kaiser教授、Wolfgang Müller教授参与对话。前智利共和国驻沪总领事Claudio Rojas Rachel主持。全校30余名师生参加。

The dialogue focused on the connotation elements and cultivation paths of international youth leadership. Karin stated that international youth leadership refers to the leadership ability demonstrated by young people in cross-cultural communication, international cooperation, and the resolution of global issues in the context of globalization. It emphasizes not only management and leadership skills but also the understanding and respect for diverse cultures, the cultivation of a global perspective, the strengthening of social responsibility, and the stimulation of innovative spirit. Karin proposed suggestions for the cultivation paths, including: first, to consolidate the knowledge foundation. Systematically study international courses covering global issues, international communication and collaboration, intercultural exchanges, and leadership theories; utilize online learning platforms to access top global educational resources and consolidate knowledge reserves; participate in international debate and speech competitions to enhance communication and expression skills. Second, to engage in international practice. Actively participate in international exchanges, take part in exchange programs to study abroad; intern and practice in international organizations, multinational enterprises, and educational institutions to broaden horizons; participate in international volunteer activities to enhance teamwork and problem-solving abilities. Third, to adhere to openness and inclusiveness. Actively respond to and properly handle global issues; respect the differences in systems and cultural needs of different countries; actively listen, conduct effective dialogues, avoid confrontation and prejudice; cultivate critical thinking and innovation capabilities. Karin emphasized that cultivating international youth leadership is a long-term process that requires collaboration and joint efforts from multiple parties. This is not only a necessary task for the growth of international youth but also an important force for promoting world peace and development.

Claudio与Karin重点就“国际青年领导力的内涵要素与培养路径”开展对话。Karin表示，国际青年领导力是指“在全球化背景下，青年在跨文化交流、国际合作以及全球性问题解决过程中所展现的领导能力”，既强调管理领导能力，但更注重对多元文化的理解与尊重、全球视野的培养、社会责任感的强化以及创新精神的激发。Karin就“培养路径”提出建议，一要夯实知识基础。系统学习涵盖全球问题、国际沟通与协作、文明互鉴、领导理论等国际化课程；利用线上学习平台获取全球顶尖教育资源，夯实知识储备；参加国际辩论赛、演讲赛等，提升表达沟通能力。二要参与国际实践。积极投身国际交流，参与交流交换与留学项目；赴国际组织、跨国企业、教育机构实习实践，扩大视野；参加国际志愿服务活动，提升团队协作与解决问题的能力。三要坚持开放包容。积极应对并妥善解决全球议题；尊重不同国家制度与文化需求差异；积极倾听，开展有效对话，避免对抗与偏见；开展批判性思维与创新能力培养。Karin强调，培养国际青年领导力是长期过程，需多方协作、共同努力，这不仅是国际青年成长的必要任务，也是推动世界和平与发展的重要力量。

The students asked questions around issues covering the intergenerational responsibility of youth leadership in global issues such as climate change and energy transition; challenges in cultivating youth leadership. Karin answered each one and encouraged the students to keep thinking, strengthen practice, and enhance youth leadership in global activities.

现场同学分别围绕“青年领导力在气候变化、能源转型等全球议题中的‘代际责任’；培养青年领导力遇到的挑战”等问题进行提问，Karin逐一回答并鼓励同学们要保持思考、加强实践、在全球化活动中提升青年领导力。

At the event, Karin wrote her expectations for ZISUers "Stay encouraged, go abroad and study hard!" All the participants signed the "Diplomatic Envelope Commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the People's Republic of China and the Federal Republic of Germany" and took a group photo as a memento.
